3 Day Dry Time
9/30/2019 (Permalink)
Restoration and Remediation magazine recently had an article regarding a 3 day drying time frame that continues to vex the mitigation vendors. Some insurance carriers feel that 3 days is sufficient to dry structures. The R&R article relates a very apt analogy comparing doing laundry to drying materials in a structure. People unfamiliar with doing laundry may think putting different materials and fabrics into a dryer and running it for 30 minutes will have all items be dry. We know this isn’t true. Heavier fabrics such as jeans or towels will take longer, light weight items will dry much faster. Same with drying structural materials in a building: multiple layers of drywall, several coats of paint, wallpaper, varying textures can extend drying time.
