Country Club Frozen Pipe

An affair was held in a local golf course Country Club, but when everyone left, the water was left on by mistake in the Pro shop. This building is not used in the colder months and is not set up for cold weather use. In other words, plumbing runs above the first floor, in an unheated attic space. Of course, November had one of those short, but severe, cold snaps and the copper pipe froze, sending water thru a large area of the drywall ceiling (plus 3 layers of batt insulation) and into several rooms below. Carpet, drywall, and MDF base trim were affected. Initially when SERVPRO of Columbia, Montour & Sullivan Counties arrived, this loss appeared to be much larger than it ended up being, due to commercial carpeted areas being wet from the water spreading out into various rooms. Once this was extracted and dried, the size of the loss became more manageable.
